A methodology for the analysis of continuous time-series of automatic inclinometers for slow-moving landslides monitoring in Piemonte region, northern Italy

Abstract In-place automatic inclinometers are typical devices used to monitor displacements of extremely slow slow-moving landslides. The significance these measurements requires methodologies able distinguish real measures from anomalous ones, quantify significant moments acceleration in deformation trends and determine the main factors that influence kinematic behavior measured by an inclinometer. This work aimed at developing a novel method, which allows cover all steps analysis data acquired inclinometers. methodology is composed five steps: (I) evaluation reliability instruments; (II) identification elimination displacement time-series; (III) recognition rate displacement, through thresholds based on mean cumulated amount deformation; (IV) clustering events acceleration, characterize different typologies according landslides behaviors; (V) meteorological groundwater parameters influencing pattern was developed tested using time-series 89 inclinometers, belonging regional monitoring network Piemonte region (northern Italy), managed Arpa Piemonte.
